Heroes in Ravingspire

Picture
  • Starter Deck Cards - Each Hero's starting Battle Deck is listed here, both by card title and with an image of each card to help in quickly assembling the Hero's starting Battle Deck.
  • Battle Matrix - The total value of the Hero's starting Battle Deck is shown, to help players to choose between Heroes based on their starting abilities. Though once gameplay begins this Battle Matrix will no longer be used, as the Hero's abilities will quickly change as they add Encounter cards from the Tower levels into their Battle Deck!
  • Character Abilities - Each Hero starts with two special abilities to help them explore and survive in the Tower. These abilities are unique to each Hero, and range from re-rolling dice to beginning each turn with an extra card to play.
  • Card Slots - What types of equipment a Hero may save in their Battlemat for later turns is shown here (also shown on the Hero's battlemat). Some Heroes can save a variety of equipment, while others have a more focused skillset and may slot multiples of specific types of equipment.

In Ravingspire, we've created nine starting Heroes, three different Heroes for each Character Type. These nine Heroes are not created equal. They are all individuals, and each has a different set of powers and equipment options they can utilize within the Tower of Ravingspire. Some of their play styles are more straightforward and easier to grasp than others, while others require more subtlety to achieve success.

Dungeon Heroes

The primary three Heroes are the Crimson Reaver (Reaver), Quinn ApBlanc (Rogue) and Aurora the All-Knowing (Runelord). These heroes have easy-to-utilize powers. They allow the player to draw extra cards or swap card power types during play. Playing with these straightforward Heroes may be roughly categorized as "Normal" or Dungeon mode, and are recommended for starting or solo players.

Temple Heroes

The second set of three Heroes are a bit more difficult to get a grasp on, but their abilities introduce some more flexibility and fun to the game. These are Florence Haymaker (Reaver), Darius the Blade (Rogue), and Marcus of the White Tower (Runelord). Escaping the Tower with one of these Heroes is generally more difficult, and may be considered "Hard" or Temple mode.

Spire Heroes

Finally, there are three Heroes who have an even more difficult time escaping through normal means unless the player focuses their play style on these Heroes' particular strengths. These Heroes may start the game without any slottable item cards making the first turns more dangerous, or their powers may be difficult to use against most adversaries without finesse. They are Garsom Cinderheart (Reaver), Shayla Nimblenook (Rogue), and Dawn the Righteous (Runelord). These are the "Expert" or Spire level player Heroes. Escaping the Tower with them awards the greatest bragging rights!
