Three-Player ReaverQuest
Gameplay for 3 Players is the same as for 2 Players with the following adjustments:
- The Player with Initiative chooses which opponent to Attack. They can normally Attack only one opponent at a time. The Player not being attacked is known as the Inactive Player.
- If a defending Player uses a DEFLECT card with a value greater than the incoming damage, then the excess damage from the DEFLECT is sent toward the Inactive Player, and those two Players are now considered to be in Battle (the defender and Inactive Player)! The original Attacker becomes the Inactive Player.
- The previously Inactive Player may now Deflect or Riposte the incoming damage as normal.
- The previously Inactive Player may now Deflect or Riposte the incoming damage as normal.
- When a Battle finishes, the player who did not play the last card(s) in the Battle (they played a card least recently), gains Initiative for the next Battle (this will usually be the inactive player).
- If a Player with Initiative cannot Attack, then Initiative moves to the Player on their left.
3-Player Example of Deflection
Part 1 - Florence deflects the Crimson Reaver
Example part 1: The Crimson Reaver Player plays an ATTACK 5 and announces she is Attacking Florence, making Garsome the Inactive Player. Florence responds with a DEFLECT 9, sending 4 damage toward Garsome. Florence and Garsome are now in combat, and the Crimson Reaver becomes the Inactive Player.
Part 2 - Garsome Ripostes back toward Florence
Example part 2: Garsome responds to Florence's deflection with a RIPOSTE 7, sending 3 damage back toward Florence. Florence cannot defend and takes 3 damage, and the Battle ends. As the Crimson Reaver played a card least recently, she once again has Initiative for the next Battle and may choose who to Attack.
